As the bird flu pandemic spreads, what does this mean for our Thanksgiving menus this year?

(Turkey and bird flu)

Well, it has to be a mix of foods, including stuff like lasagne, because I can never cook one gigantic dish that serves lots of people. But squid is good :)

Maybe it means that people will replace their factory-farm turkey with meat with, I dunno, flavor.

A giant block of tofu would be more tasty than commercial turkey.

No, that's just stupid.

Although it's got to be easy to make tofu taste like turkey. You just tap it with your wand and say "it tastes like turkey!" and you're done.

The texture might be tricky though. But neither texture is really nice anyway.

But think of the horror of encountering a giant tofuducken made by a mad scientist *shudder*

I don't think you guys would have been very afraid of that.

I read that as "turkey" the bird instead of the country. I suppose that means sweet potato casserole all winter long!

Which leads me to wonder... bird flu has been found in Turkey, but has it been found in turkey?

Turkeys in Turkey

Yes, the radio this morning was quite clear in making sure that we understood: They found H5N1 on a turkey farm (the bird) in Turkey.

I didn't realize the Turks were so into turkey, but hey. Maybe theirs is free-range---making it flavorful yet infection-prone.
