Last night, Son the Younger was in his room playing with LEGOs, when I heard him crying. He'd been trying to separate a small flat piece from another flat piece and tore his thumbnail to the quick. I bandaged his thumb up for him. A minute later, he came out crying again, having torn up his other thumbnail just as badly.

I set him up to watch a movie after that, for once feeling completely justified in having him do something completely passive.

I agree with everyone else

I have so been there! The flat-flat problem is the worst. Especially the identical-flat to identical-flat. Phew.

Yup - teeth marks, but I had to hide from my dad when I did it, since they were HIS LEGOs and he did not approve of teeth-marks...

Still - I hope they don't start regulating LEGOs, or change them - they work well and we just need to be careful on our own. I'm so sad that no parks have tall swings anymore ...
