It's job application season, so here I am dusting off my application materials from previous years.

I read through my statement of research interests and realized that I need to completely re-write it from scratch. Aside from the fact that it physically pains me to read it, it's completely out of date. But then, perhaps the former is related to the latter.

So the good news is, I've made progress in the last two years!

The bad news is, I have a lot of writing to do ASAP.

Does this mean ...
You are getting a new job?
The job might be closer to Boston??

(a girl can hope)

It means my current postdoc runs out in a couple more years, so I might as well go ahead and hit some pavement now.

The best opportunities I've managed to find so far are in PA, IL, MI, NJ, MD, and, yes, even one in MA. But we'd best not get our hopes up. :)

She's in the middle of year two of a three year fellowship, so this year or next she needs to find a new job. Whether it's closer to Boston or not depends entirely on who's hiring and who wants her. Unfortunately, options are limited, but there is a possibility or two this year.

Someone up there just needs to convince certain institutions of higher learning in the Boston area that they really want this brilliant astrophysicist. :-)

Ha, yes, there is a reason I don't ever re-read my application statements once I've sent them off, unless I really really very seriously need to.

Good luck!
