Maybe I shouldn't feel so guilty that DS2 won't sleep without his pacifier:

I agree that you can go a bit overboard with attachment parenting. Sometimes, when my kids are really upset, I just need to leave them alone for a few minutes until they calm down. And sometimes, in order for me to be a better mother, I need to separate myself from them.

DS1 never took a pacifier, and co-slept with us until he was over a year old. And DS2 has slept with a pillow or stuffed animal in his crib for a while. Somehow, they've both pulled through...
